Job summary

ALS in Wakefield is seeking a Logistics Technician to join the busy water testing laboratory team. You’ll register, store and prepare samples, supporting the lab to run efficiently and on time.

The role suits someone with GCSEs, good IT skills (Excel/Outlook), and a reliable, team-focused approach. It offers 37 hours, Monday–Friday with rotating weekends, and benefits including pension and generous annual leave.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (or Grade 4) or above, including Science, Maths and English.
• Confident IT skills including Excel and Outlook, with the ability to learn in-house systems.
• Able to work accurately to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Strong teamworking skills and willingness to support colleagues.
• Follow Health & Safety requirements, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling.
• Report near misses/incidents promptly and follow correct storage and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Register and prepare incoming samples promptly and accurately
• Pack sample containers for distribution to customers
• Rotate sample bottles and dispose of them correctly after analysis
• Keep your workstation clean, tidy and well organised at all times
• Process returned items and laboratory waste for recycling or disposal
• Work in line with ISO 17025 and the company’s quality management system
