A local government organization in the United Kingdom seeks passionate Adult Education Tutors to deliver inclusive learning opportunities. The role focuses on engaging diverse learners in community settings, including green skills and health care pathways. Ideal candidates will possess teaching qualifications and experience in adult learning. The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work‑based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery Workers, Teaching Assistants, Leadership/Management and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop. Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need. Coventry City Council’s Adult Education Service is committed to delivering high‑quality, inclusive learning opportunities that improve lives and strengthen communities. Our Connect to Skills pilot project for 2025/26 focuses on engaging residents in Coventry’s most deprived areas, supporting those without Level 2 qualifications, and creating pathways into further learning and employment. We are seeking passionate and adaptable Adult Education Tutors to deliver teaching, learning, and assessment activities across a range of pathways, including:
Delivery will take place in community venues such as Family Hubs, libraries, schools, and outreach locations, with flexible modes including face‑to‑face, online, and blended learning. All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
You will have a teaching qualification, experience delivery adult learning in community settings, strong communication and organisational skills. In addition you will have the ability to engage diverse learners, including those who are economically inactive, ESOL learners, individuals with additional needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
