Job summary

TeacherActive in Rhondda is seeking full-time tutors to support primary and secondary pupils across Rhondda, delivering one-to-one tutoring with a focus on Maths and Literacy and GCSE preparation where needed. You will provide personalised support in core subjects, study skills, wellbeing and pastoral care, with comprehensive training offered.

All staff are paid via PAYE with safeguarding and DBS checks in place; a proactive, learner-centred approach is essential and you will engage with pupils,

Qualifications

• QTS is essential.
• Experience in learning support and wellbeing is desirable.
• Ability to engage effectively with young people, parents, external organisations and staff.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic tutors to join our team. Successful candidates will provide essential support to primary and secondary pupils across Rhondda, working within environments committed to delivering exceptional education and opportunities for all learners. The Local Authority is passionate about fostering an inclusive and vibrant community, equipping students with the skills to progress confidently in their academic and professional lives. We are currently recruiting for full-time tutors.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for proactive and committed tutors who are passionate about inspiring learners and upholding high educational standards. Tutors will deliver personalised support in core subjects, study skills, well-being, and pastoral care. Strong proficiency in Mathematics and Literacy is essential, as some pupils will be preparing for their GCSE examinations.

All tutoring sessions will be conducted on a one-to-one basis. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure consistent adherence to established procedures within this personalised learning environment.

Key Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential for this role
• Level 3 qualification or coaching certification related to education (desirable but not essential)
• Experience in learning support, including skills development, pastoral care, and well-being support (desirable)
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with a proven ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
• A demonstrated commitment to learner support and well-being, adopting an inclusive, learner-centred approach
• Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with young people, parents, external organisations, and educational staff
