Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking a Residential Night Care Worker to provide overnight care in children’s homes. You will follow care plans, maintain routines, and support young people through the night, ensuring safety and emotional reassurance.

The role requires flexibility for a 7-day rota including nights and weekends, a full UK driving licence, and Enhanced DBS clearance. Salary up to £31,179 plus enhancements.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, young people or families in care or residential settings.
• Willing to achieve Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare within 18 months of appointment.
• Able to work a 7-day shift rota, covering nights and weekends.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality overnight care and support, including bedtime and morning routines.
• Help children and young people feel safe, secure and cared for during the night.
• Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures to respond appropriately to incidents and risks.
• Maintain accurate records and effectively hand over important information to colleagues and professionals.
• Work in partnership with families, colleagues and external agencies to ensure children's needs are met.
• Support children and young people across different homes and community settings when required.
