Job summary

Ignition Driver Recruitment is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to join our team in Bellshill. You will oversee all scheduled transport activity, lead driver briefings, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with legal standards to support a high-volume operation.

This role requires strong leadership, customer service focus, and the ability to manage absence and relations. You will collaborate with the Sort Centre and other teams to optimise efficiency and performance.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Driver CPC.
• Experience in Transport, Warehousing and Logistics.
• Demonstrable shift manager/team leader experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry software (Kronos, Oracle).
• Knowledge of drivers hours and WTD.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and deliver all scheduled transport activity ensuring on-time performance.
• Lead daily driver briefings and debriefings for employed, subcontractors, and agency staff.
• Monitor and improve driver performance using operational data and reporting tools.
• Track KPIs and implement corrective actions where needed.
• Ensure legal compliance and uphold Operating Licence standards.
• Promote health and safety across the site.
• Manage absence, performance, and other employee relations matters.
• Investigate incidents and propose follow-up actions.
• Build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with Sort Centre to streamline operations.
• Contribute to site-wide and business-wide projects.
• Maintain relationships with trade union representatives.
• Manage yard operations and trailer movements.
• Adapt to demand changes during peak periods.
• Act as deputy for the Shift Manager when required.

Job Title: Transport Shift Manager

Location: Bellshill

Remuneration: £30,231 to £36,703 p/a DoE

Shifts: Monday to Friday (14:00 - 22:30)

Ignition Driver Recruitment are looking for a reliable, experienced Transport Shift Manager to join our team and play a vital role in keeping the supply chain moving. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our clients Home Delivery Network and as an experienced leader, your experience, drive and determination will be utilised well within this challenging and rewarding role.

To be considered for this role, you will be an experienced Transport Manager or Shift Manager with a strong focus on customer service. You must have previous experience in a high-volume transport and warehouse environment.

Transport Team Manager - What You'll Do:

• Oversee and deliver all scheduled transport activity, ensuring on-time performance and service levels are met
• Lead daily driver briefings and debriefings (employed, subcontractors, and agency)
• Monitor and improve driver performance using operational data and reporting tools
• Track and respond to national and local KPIs, implementing corrective action where needed
• Ensure legal compliance with all transport operations and uphold Operating Licence standards
• Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety across the site
• Proactively manage absence, performance, and other employee relations matters, escalating when necessary
• Investigate transport and on-site incidents thoroughly and propose follow-up actions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams
• Collaborate closely with the Sort Centre team to streamline operations and improve efficiency
• Contribute to site-wide and business-wide projects
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with trade union representatives
• Manage yard operations, ensuring smooth trailer movements and timely bay availability
• Adapt quickly to demand changes during peak periods and special events
• Act as deputy for the Shift Manager when required

This is a really varied role, and it requires someone who can think on their feet, and problem solve quickly.

About you - what you need:

• You must have your driver CPC.
• Previous experience working within Transport, Warehousing and Logistics
• You will have demonstrable shift manager/team leader experience
• You will need to have PC skills and be able to use Microsoft Office as well as industry related software (Kronos, Oracle etc)
• You must have up-to-date knowledge of drivers hours and the WTD
