Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in Northampton currently seeks a Transport Shift Manager to lead the transport team on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring safe, compliant and high‑performing service for the Wickes contract.

The role is full time and permanent, mainly Tuesday to Saturday, 05:00–13:00, with a salary up to £39,216 per year. You will manage drivers, monitor compliance with transport legislation and hours, train staff, and drive continuous improvements to reduce costs while maintaining service

Qualifications

Previous experience in a transport or fleet management role.
Strong knowledge of transport legislation, drivers’ hours and compliance requirements.
Confident people management skills with the ability to lead, engage and challenge teams.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Holder of an International CPC is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the transport team to deliver operational excellence while ensuring legal compliance across all transport activities.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiative to enhance efficiency and reduce cost.
Work closely with the Transport Managers, Lead Drivers and Driver Trainers to ensure that colleagues and agencies are trained in company procedure, policies and Health and Safety.
Complete employee relations actions, including disciplinaries, grievance, absence management and performance reviews.
