Job summary

Pure Staff Limited in the West Midlands is seeking a Transport Planner to plan daily transport operations, schedule drivers and allocate vehicles to meet customer requirements.

You will monitor movements, handle delays and incidents, maintain records and ensure compliance with drivers’ hours and UK regulations. The role calls for excellent organisation, communication and teamwork in a busy office setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics or similar role.
  • Good knowledge of UK transport operations and drivers' hours regulations.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Strong attention to detail. Confident using transport planning systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily transport operations and driver schedules.
  • Allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage and monitor transport movements throughout the day.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth operations. Deal with delays, breakdowns or operational issues and find suitable solutions.
  • Ensure all transport activities comply with relevant legal and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, driver hours and transport activities.
  • Monitor driver working hours and ensure compliance with drivers' hours regulations.
  • Liaise with customers regarding collections, deliveries and any changes to schedules.
  • Assist with the management and planning of vehicle and trailer availability.
  • Work closely with the wider transport team to improve efficiency and minimise empty running.
  • Complete any necessary transport administration and reporting.

Other:
  • Shift 1(7am - 3.30pm) Mon - Fri
  • Shift 2 (2pm - 10.30pm) Mon - Fri
  • Also, as part of the rota you will be required to work every other Saturday.
