Job summary

Whistl UK Ltd in Bolton is seeking a proactive Transport Planner to optimise daily collections and deliveries across our UK network. You will work with drivers, depots and customers, ensuring routes are cost-efficient, compliant with drivers' hours regulations, and aligned with service levels.

The role requires strong organisational skills, Excel proficiency, and a full UK driving licence, with weekend shifts possible.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or logistics planning role.
• Knowledge of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive.
• Experience with transport planning or fleet management software.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily collections and deliveries across the network.
• Ensure routes are scheduled efficiently and meet customer requirements.
• Monitor transport activities and respond to operational challenges.
• Maintain accurate transport records and system data.
• Liaise with drivers, depots, customers and service providers.
• Produce reports and support performance monitoring.
• Ensure planning activities comply with drivers' hours regulations and transport legislation.

We're looking for a proactive and analytical Transport Planner to join our Transport team, ensuring collections and deliveries across our HGV and van network are planned efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with customer requirements and legal compliance.

You'll play a key role in keeping our network running smoothly, optimising routes and resources, and supporting continuous improvement across the operation.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a transport planning, transport coordinator or logistics planning role.
• Knowledge of transport regulations, including Drivers' Hours and the Working Time Directive.
• Experience using transport planning or fleet management systems.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• To be flexible with hours of work, as evening and weekend work may be required in line with business requirements
• Full UK driving licence
