Job summary

Pertemps Heathrow & Hemel Hempstead is seeking a skilled Transport Planner in the United Kingdom to support a leading freight and logistics operation. The role centres on route planning, fleet compliance and delivery performance, with duties including driver briefings, schedule optimisation and regulatory adherence.

The position is temporary (min 2 months), with a 11:00am–7:00pm shift, Monday to Friday, and hourly pay of GBP16.83.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning roles.
• Strong knowledge of route planning and driver hours/tachograph compliance.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with good IT literacy.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Desirable experience in airfreight.
• Must have checkable 5-year work history and willing to obtain DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Brief and debrief drivers at shift start/end.
• Plan and optimise daily delivery and collection routes.
• Allocate work and manage driver resources.
• Monitor fleet utilisation and performance.
• Ensure vehicles and drivers comply with relevant legislation and procedures.
• Monitor drivers' hours and tachograph compliance.
• Manage operational issues and route changes.
• Liaise with drivers, customers and internal teams.

Transport Planner

Contract: Temporary - Minimum 2 months. Salary: GBP16.83 per hour. Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 11:00am-7:00pm.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join one of our clients, a leading freight and logistics company specialising in the transportation of perishable goods and healthcare products.

The successful candidate will support the transport operation, ensuring effective route planning, fleet compliance and delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Briefing and debriefing drivers at the start and end of shifts
• Planning and optimising daily delivery and collection routes
• Allocating work and managing driver resources effectively
• Monitoring fleet utilisation and operational performance
• Ensuring vehicles and drivers remain compliant with relevant legislation and company procedures
• Monitoring driver hours, tachograph compliance and working time requirements
• Managing any operational issues, delays or route changes throughout the day
• Liaising with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Monitoring delivery schedules and ensuring agreed time windows are achieved
• Managing exceptions and providing contingency planning where required
• Maintaining accurate transport and operational records

Key Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within a transport planning role
• Strong knowledge of route planning
• Understanding of drivers' hours, tachograph and transport compliance
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced operational environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Good geographical knowledge
• Confident using computer systems and IT literate
• Experience within the airfreight industry(Desirable)
