Job summary

Simply Jobsworth is seeking an experienced UK Transport Planner to join a busy logistics operation on-site in the United Kingdom. You will plan movements, maximise vehicle utilisation and ensure compliant, professional transport services.

The role covers driver planning, compliance with Hours/Regulations, liaising with drivers, customers and suppliers, and identifying efficiency improvements. A CPC qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years Transport Planning experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in groupage planning and trailer backloading.
  • Strong knowledge of UK geography and transport operations.
  • Experience working with drivers and transport planning/TMS systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and make quick operational decisions.
  • Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Plan UK transport movements, routes, groupage and trailer backloads efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage daily driver planning, briefings and debriefings.
  • Monitor driver performance, delays, demurrage and operational issues.
  • Maintain driver, vehicle and transport compliance.
  • Ensure drivers have the correct documentation and customer instructions.
  • Arrange agency driver cover for holidays and sickness.
  • Monitor fuel, tolls, parking and other transport costs.
  • Maintain accurate bookings, manifests and transport records on the TMS.
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, suppliers, operations and compliance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Regulations, Operator Licence requirements and company procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels and profitability.

UK TRANSPORT PLANNER REQUIRED

Location: On-site
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00-19:00 (30-minute break)
Salary: £30,000-£34,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities:
