Job summary

XPO Logistics in Doncaster is seeking an Operational Supervisor to lead daily transport operations and ensure safe, compliant practices across the site. You will coordinate with drivers, subcontractors and customers, support planning, performance dashboards and investigations into operational failures, while promoting continuous improvement and staff development.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00, with a salary up to £35,500 plus a range of benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport, logistics, or distribution environments.
• Proven ability to supervise or lead operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of transport compliance and health & safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily transport operations.
• Prepare for and participate in daily operational calls and reporting.
• Monitor service performance and investigate operational failures.
• Support route planning and resource allocation activities.
• Manage stakeholder communications with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
• Support demand planning activities and operational forecasting.
• Monitor delivery performance and conduct OTRI investigations and corrective actions.
• Assist with customer reporting and dashboard submissions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Complete daily compliance checks and action any issues identified.
• Manage safety tool reporting and hazard tracking systems.
• Conduct and support accident and incident investigations.
• Deliver safety communications and one-point lessons to teams.
• Complete operational audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist in maintaining site compliance standards and audit readiness.
• Monitor and manage vehicle defect reporting and rectification.
• Support servicing, MOT planning, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Monitor driver compliance including WTD, speeding, mileage, checks, and hygiene.
