People Development Chef - Up to 45k plus bonus
We’re looking for a People Development Chef to be the custodian of our Chef Career Pathway and oversee all training and development within our Food Development Centre. We seek an experienced chef trainer or Head Chef with a strong track record of succession within their teams. You’ll be a people person, passionate about mentoring, training, and developing. Applications from college lecturers or those with experience working with employers on apprenticeships are welcomed. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Being the Custodian of our Chef Career Pathway and the go-to person for all chef development matters.
- Overseeing our Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship Programmes, running culinary masterclasses, inspiring chefs, and liaising with Head Chefs and General Managers regarding learners.
- Managing internal Development programmes such as CDP-Sous Chef and Sous Chef – Head Chef, and participating in succession planning with the food team for first appointment sites.
- Keeping culinary craft alive through monthly masterclasses covering skills like Butchery, Game, Fish Cookery, Bread, Patisserie, and Sunday Roasts.
- Being the Custodian of our Food Development and Learning Centre in Wandsworth, which you will be fully in charge of.
- Supporting teams within their businesses by integrating food and people development skills to showcase exemplary standards during key trading days, such as Sunday roasts in winter or burger shacks in summer.
- Assisting our Executive Chefs in recipe and menu development, and supporting roadshows, CAPEX programmes, and training days for refurbishments and recruitment. You will also support chef forums for our Head Chefs.
What we are looking for in our People Development Chef:
- Extensive knowledge of British seasonal produce, food trends, and top-tier pub food.
- A strong communicator and mentor capable of delivering impactful sessions to operational teams, including chefs of all levels and front-of-house staff up to General Manager.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in chef training or a senior Head Chef role.
- Ability to demonstrate team development and succession planning.
- Capability to engage and inspire kitchen teams to nurture, train, and develop talent.
- Exceptional culinary skills and a personable approach, adaptable to individual needs.
- Full understanding of stock management and recipe creation within a compliant kitchen environment.
- Sound knowledge of kitchen health and safety standards.
