Job summary

Portman Recruitment in Manchester City Centre is hiring a Trainee Recruitment Consultant. The role focuses on speaking with candidates, understanding their needs, and matching them to live permanent vacancies across social care sectors.

You will use phone, WhatsApp, email and LinkedIn to build relationships and drive opportunities. This is a people-focused sales role with a starting salary of £25,000 plus uncapped commission, backed by full training and clear progression into a permanent

Trainee Recruitment Consultant

Starting salary: £25,000 + uncapped commission

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit quietly behind a desk.

Portman Recruitment is looking for a hungry, well organised and confident person to Train as a Recruitment Consultant with our permanent recruitment team.

We already have vacancies secured with clients across social work, social care and children's residential services. Your job will be to speak with potential candidates, understand what they are looking for, and match them with the right opportunities.

This is a people-focused sales role. You will be on the phone, sending WhatsApps, emailing, using LinkedIn and building relationships every day. The more quality conversations you have, the more opportunities you create.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for:

• Speaking with candidates about live permanent vacancies
• Making daily outbound calls to new and existing candidates
• Using WhatsApp, email and LinkedIn to keep conversations moving
• Understanding candidate experience, salary expectations and availability
• Matching candidates to roles already secured by the business
• Keeping accurate notes and staying organised with follow-ups
• Building long-term relationships with candidates in specialist sectors
• Working closely with the team to generate interviews and placements
