Job summary

Blaymires Recruitment Ltd., near Romsey, Hampshire, is representing an established contractor seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. This entry-level role offers practical training across budgets, cost planning and commercial administration on UK construction and fit-out projects.

You will work with an experienced team, learn to prepare estimates, take-offs, procurement, and cost control, with a clear path to developing your career in quantity surveying.

Qualifications

• Recent graduates or college leavers welcome with no prior industry experience.
• Genuine interest in developing a career in quantity surveying.
• Live within commutable distance to the office.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with budgets, estimates and cost plans.
• Take-off measurements and material take-offs.
• Support subcontractor enquiries, quotations and tender comparisons.
• Assist with procurement of subcontractors and materials.
• Help prepare subcontract orders and commercial documentation.
• Monitor project costs against budgets.
• Assist with valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Attend project/site meetings as required.
• Collaborate with Contracts Managers, Project Managers and site teams.
• Maintain accurate commercial records across each project.
• Develop understanding of contracts and procedures.

Education

HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or other relevant construction subject
