Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is recruiting Trainee Procurement Officers (Graduate) to join the Procurement Service in Hamilton. This hands-on role covers purchasing and negotiation, with a mentor support to deliver procurement activities.

You will study towards the Level 4 Diploma from CIPS, build skills across social care, IT, housing and other contracts, and progress through grades as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Honours degree with a genuine enthusiasm for procurement career.
• Minimum 2:1 degree in supply chain, business, procurement or law; or procurement/purchasing experience.
• Highly developed communication and analytical skills; ability to plan and organise workload.

Responsibilities

• Manage own procurement projects from day one with mentor and line manager.
• Guide colleagues through appropriate procurement processes with the right support.
• Progress through the Procurement Skills Matrix towards CIPS Level 4 and higher responsibilities.
