Job summary

Unify in Bedford is seeking an entry-level Shift Technician / Trainee Plant Operator to join a modern power generation facility.

No prior power plant experience required; full training provided. This role offers a clear path into engineering and industrial operations with a full-time, shift-based schedule.

You will learn to operate DCS/SCADA, monitor plant systems, perform inspections, respond to alarms, and support maintenance alongside experienced teams.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with full training provided.
• No prior power plant experience required; training provided.
• Candidate should be willing to learn and adhere to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and monitor plant systems using DCS/SCADA.
• Support safe and efficient plant operation according to procedures.
• Carry out routine plant inspections, checks and readings.
• Respond to alarms and assist with fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and basic repairs.
• Work with Shift Team Leader and experienced technicians.
• Help supervise contractors and ensure safety compliance.
• Assist with stock control, consumables and site deliveries.
• Participate in outages and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Operate site equipment; forklift training provided if needed.
• Develop skills to progress into a fully competent Technician.
