Job summary

RecruitMe seeks an experienced Shift Team Leader for a high‑reliability energy facility in Lutterworth. You will lead a shift team, operate and monitor plant via DCS/HMI/SCADA, and ensure safe, compliant operation across the site.

You will oversee start-ups/shutdowns, inspections and environmental compliance, while developing the operational team and driving continuous improvement. The role follows a 365‑day, 24/7 shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise plant operators and operational staff.
• Operate and monitor plant through DCS/HMI/SCADA systems.
• Oversee boilers, turbines, pumps, water treatment and auxiliary plant.
• Manage safe plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational changes.
• Carry out plant inspections, walk-downs and equipment checks.
• Monitor CEMS and ensure Environmental Permit compliance.
• Coordinate minor reactive maintenance and plant stoppages.
• Raise maintenance work requests and support engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, operational records and performance data.
• Support Permit-to-Work and safe systems of work.
• Coach, mentor and develop shift team members.
• Drive plant availability, reliability and continuous improvement.

Lutterworth- Up to £53,529 per annum : Rotating Shift Pattern

Are you an experienced Shift Team Leader, Control Room Operator, Shift Supervisor or Senior Plant Operator from a power generation, energy, steam raising or heavy industrial process environment?

This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the safe and reliable operation of a modern industrial energy facility, leading a shift team while working with DCS/HMI controlled plant, boilers, turbines, pumps, water treatment systems and associated process equipment.

You will play a key role in plant performance, safety, environmental compliance and the continued development of the operational team.

As Shift Team Leader, you will lead the shift team and take responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the facility throughout your shift.

• Leading and supervising plant operators and operational staff

• Operating and monitoring plant through DCS / HMI / SCADA systems

• Overseeing boilers, turbines, pumps, water treatment and auxiliary plant

• Managing safe plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational changes

• Carrying out plant inspections, walk-downs and equipment checks

• Monitoring CEMS and ensuring Environmental Permit compliance

The successful candidate will take accountability for the safe operation of the plant during their shift and will be expected to promptly escape any operational, environmental or safety risks.

You should ideally have:

• Operational experience within power generation, steam raising or a comparable industrial process environment

• Experience working both within a control room and out on plant

• Hands-on experience using DCS, HMI or SCADA systems

• Strong leadership and team supervision skills

• A logical, methodical approach to plant fault finding and problem solving

• Practical mechanical awareness and the ability to support minor adjustments or repairs

• Good IT and reporting skills

• Flexibility to work a 365-day, 24/7 shift rota

An HNC, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification/time-served experience would be beneficial.

Experience with Permit-to-Work systems, IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS or Electrical AP/SAP responsibilities would also be advantageous, although these are not essential and training can be provided.
