Job summary

Altera Recruitment Group is assisting an established energy and industrial operations business in Leicestershire to appoint a Shift Team Leader. You will oversee the safe and efficient 24/7 plant operations, lead a team of operational staff, monitor performance from the control room and at site, ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are met.

The role requires hands-on plant experience in power generation or steam raising, plus proficiency with DCS/HMI/SCADA systems, and proven

Qualifications

Previous operational experience within power generation, steam raising or a comparable industrial or process environment.
Experience working across both control room and plant floor environments, with practical understanding of industrial plant and equipment.
Demonstrable experience operating DCS, HMI or SCADA control systems.
Relevant engineering qualification such as an HNC, NVQ or equivalent, although substantial time served experience will also be considered.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to supervise, coach and develop operational personnel while maintaining high standards of safety and performance.

Responsibilities

Lead the shift team and maintain safe, reliable and efficient plant operation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and control plant systems including boilers, turbines, pumps, water treatment equipment and associated auxiliary systems using DCS/HMI technology.
Coordinate plant start ups, shutdowns, inspections and routine operational checks, identifying issues and escalating significant risks where required.
Oversee minor reactive maintenance, operational stoppages and contractor activities, working closely with the maintenance function to support plant availability.
Maintain accurate shift records, operational reports and performance data, while monitoring environmental compliance including Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
