Job summary

Astute are working on behalf of our client, a world leader in Environmental, Waste and Energy Recovery, to recruit a Shift Operations Technician for a 12-hour rotating shift at the Lincoln energy-from-waste site.

You will oversee safe, efficient plant operations, start-up/shut-down duties, inspections and first line maintenance, coordinating with the control room SCADA and CMMS systems. This role requires a technical qualification and experience in power generation.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or BTEC, or time‑served apprenticeship.
• Experience with steam raising equipment or power generation in Energy from Waste, Biomass, refineries or similar.
• Ability to carry out first line maintenance on mechanical or electrical equipment.
• H&S qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Monitor and control the plant via the SCADA system, maintaining an accurate log of events.
• Carry out plant inspections, fault diagnosis and first line maintenance.
• Log issues in the CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with HSQE policies and Environmental Permit; report issues to management.
• Write RAMS as required.
• Train and mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate and assist with safe unloading of plant consumables.
