Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, invites applicants for a three-year Trainee Field Technician programme across Southern and Central Scotland, including Falkirk. You will learn through structured training, college study and hands-on work, progressing to a Field Technician role on successful completion.

The programme covers installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault-finding, with travel to operational sites and training locations.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in engineering, technology and the electricity network.
• A practical approach to problem solving and strong attention to detail.
• A commitment to health and safety procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• An eagerness to learn, ask questions and respond positively to feedback.
• Full UK driving licence by December 2026.
• HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Previous experience in an industrial/electrical/mechanical environment.
• Sound understanding of Health & Safety policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain network apparatus.
• Distribution protection and battery systems.
• SCADA and telecontrol equipment.
• Defect diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• Site activities in line with safety management systems.
• Maintain technical records and work programmes.
