Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Traffic Engineering Team Manager in Gloucester to lead a growing multi-disciplinary team delivering a substantial highway improvements programme. You will ensure projects meet budget, programme, and local/national standards while driving innovation and health and safety compliance.

The role requires a degree in Engineering, membership of ICE/CIHT/IHE, a full driving licence, and willingness to travel across the county, with out-of-hours duties as needed.

Traffic Engineering Team Manager needed in Gloucester, £63,895 per annum - Reference: 5305053

This is a unique opportunity to lead a team that plays a pivotal role in significantly transforming the highway by introducing infrastructure that helps to reduce casualties, improve accessibility and sustainable travel, and reduce traffic congestion.

You will lead a growing, multi-disciplinary team and oversee a high-profile programme of investment in road safety, accessibility and sustainable travel.

This includes driving forward our countywide Safer Roads/Community 20s speed limit initiative and the delivery of the annual road safety programme.

The post holder will be required to travel throughout the county, as and when required, and must hold a full, valid driving licence.

• You are expected to undertake out of hour's duties, as and when required.
• You will ideally have a degree in Engineering discipline.
• Membership of relevant professional body e.g. ICE, CIHT, IHE.

You will be a passionate and confident leader who shall:

• Lead the delivery of a substantial highway improvements programme, ensuring projects are delivered to budget and programme.
• Ensure the design of projects meet local and national standards, are innovative and meet health and safety requirements.
• Oversee the implementation of project management and design processes to achieve successful delivery.
• Oversee contractors to ensure that highway works are constructed to design and budget.
• Drive the development of the team through innovative methods of working including the use of AI.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues, Members and other stakeholders.
• Support the team's growth and development, creating a positive and inclusive environment where people can thrive.

This is a full time role on a Permanent basis.
