Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Traffic Engineering Team Manager in Gloucester to lead a growing multi-disciplinary team delivering a substantial highway improvements programme. You will ensure projects meet budget, programme, and local/national standards while driving innovation and health and safety compliance.

The role requires a degree in Engineering, membership of ICE/CIHT/IHE, a full driving licence, and willingness to travel across the county, with out-of-hours duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering discipline.
• Membership of ICE, CIHT or IHE preferred.
• Full driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of a substantial highway improvements programme.
• Ensure designs meet local and national standards and safety requirements.
• Oversee project management and design processes to achieve delivery.
• Oversee contractors to ensure works meet design and budget.
• Drive team development using innovative methods including AI.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, Members and stakeholders.
• Support team growth in an inclusive environment.
