Job summary

AECOM Limited is recruiting enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices in Leeds for a 2027 start. You will join our Highways & Complete Streets Team, supporting safer, more efficient transport networks and gaining practical experience across the project lifecycle.

You’ll learn on-the-job, through formal training and mentoring, while working toward a recognised qualification and building a career in traffic engineering. The role offers a hybrid work model and opportunities across major projects.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above
• Three A-Levels including Maths and a physical science
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and a desire for a career in the industry
• Aptitude for technical software and engineering drawing
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Interest in transport, sustainability and safer streets
• Strong attention to detail and methodical problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Assist with design drawings and supporting documentation using CAD and design software
• Support traffic engineering and highway schemes from concept to detailed design
• Collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data
• Assist with highway and traffic design, signage and road markings
• Support traffic management and signal design activities
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections
• Prepare technical reports and calculations
