AECOM is seeking graduates to join the Traffic Engineering teams across the UK&I as part of a fast-paced, collaborative program. You will work on live projects from concept through to delivery, gaining exposure to road design, traffic signals, cycle facilities and modelling tools.
With guidance from experienced engineers, you’ll develop technical skills, contribute to project tasks and attend site visits and workshops. Commitment to learning and professional development is essential.
AECOM is looking for talented and motivated graduates to join our Traffic Engineering teams across the UK and Ireland (UK&I). As one of the largest dedicated Traffic Engineering teams in the UK&I, we work on a diverse range of projects focused on creating safer, more efficient and sustainable transport networks for communities.
Our work covers the development and appraisal of practical solutions for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, including road and street design, traffic signals, cycle facilities, traffic management and traffic modelling. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and other technical professionals in multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for our clients.
Projects range from concept and preliminary design through to modelling, detailed design and implementation, giving you the opportunity to gain experience across the full project lifecycle. The role is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring creativity, technical capability, strong communication and a willingness to learn.
As a Graduate Highways and Traffic Engineer, you'll be supported by experienced engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring as you develop your technical knowledge and professional skills. You'll work on live projects and receive structured training to help you build a strong foundation in traffic engineering and design.
Your initial responsibilities will typically include supporting the development of designs and technical solutions through different project stages, attending site visits, meetings and workshops, and working collaboratively with clients and other design professionals.
You'll receive training in relevant engineering, design and traffic modelling software, which may include AutoCAD, Civil 3D, LinSig, TRANSYT and VISSIM, depending on project requirements. You'll also develop your understanding of digital engineering and BIM processes.
As your experience and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility for project tasks and technical deliverables, with opportunities to contribute to projects from inception through to completion.
Our Traffic Engineering graduates also have opportunities to work alongside our Highways teams on major highways projects. Working collaboratively across Traffic Engineering and Highway disciplines provides exposure to a broad range of projects and helps you develop a well-rounded understanding of transportation and infrastructure design.
You must have permanent right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
