Trading Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Trading Manager within our busy Trading Department, based at our Distribution Centre in Dundee. Our dynamic Trading Team is responsible for the procurement and supply of a wide assortment of products sold in over 300 SPAR Convenience stores throughout Scotland. Reporting to the Trading & Supply Chain Director, the Trading Manager will be responsible for overseeing trading performance, inventory control, pricing strategies, promotions and supplier relationships across one or more categories.

About the Role…

• Analyse sales data to identify trends, forecast demand and make decisions on product range, pricing and promotions.
• Work closely with suppliers and distributors to negotiate pricing, promotions, and delivery schedules.
• Ensure that stores are stocked with the right products in the right quantities to meet customer needs and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to plan and execute in-store campaigns and seasonal promotions.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to maintain a competitive edge
• Manage stock levels, minimise shrinkage, and optimise ordering and replenishment processes.
• Ensure trading decisions align with company strategy and customer expectations
• Provide regular reports for senior management on sales performance, stock issues and trading insights.

About you…

• Proven experience in retail trading role, preferably within the convenience or FMCG sector.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of retail trading principles.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience working with sales and inventory data.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient in retail management systems, POS and Microsoft Excel.
