Job summary

Cheltpro in Cheltenham is seeking a Trade Sales Advisor to join a busy merchant business. You’ll deal with trade customers face-to-face and over the phone, provide product advice and build strong relationships with trade professionals.

In this role you’ll handle customer enquiries, prepare quotations, process orders and identify opportunities to increase sales. You’ll also support the trade counter and wider branch during busy periods, contributing to a friendly, professional trade counter

Qualifications

• Experience in trade sales or merchanting in plumbing/heating.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Able to prepare quotations and process orders.
• Good commercial awareness to identify sales opportunities.
• Confident in face-to-face and telephone communication.

We're recruiting a Trade Sales Advisor to join a well-established and busy merchant business in Cheltenham.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in trade sales, merchanting, plumbing and heating or trade counter environments who enjoys dealing with customers, providing product advice and building strong relationships with trade professionals.

You’ll be joining a busy branch environment where you’ll handle customer enquiries, prepare quotations, process orders and identify opportunities to increase sales. You’ll also support the trade counter and wider branch when required, making this a varied role with plenty of customer interaction.

What You?ll Be Doing

• Dealing with trade customers face-to-face and over the telephone.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.
• Providing product advice and recommending suitable products and solutions.
• Preparing quotations and following up outstanding quotes to maximise sales opportunities.

• Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, product availability and technical information.
• Serving customers professionally and efficiently on the trade counter.
• Processing sales, collections and customer orders.
• Picking and preparing customer orders when required.
• Ensuring customers receive the correct products and quantities.
• Supporting with the safe loading and unloading of goods when required.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and professional trade counter and customer area.
• Working towards agreed sales and gross profit targets.
• Supporting colleagues across the wider branch during busy periods.

About You

We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in trade sales, merchanting, plumbing and heating, builders? merchants or similar customer-facing trade environments.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in trade sales, internal sales, trade counter sales or merchanting.
• Plumbing and heating product knowledge or experience within a related trade sector.
• A good understanding of the requirements of trade customers.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence dealing with customers both face-to-face and over the telephone.
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to identify sales opportunities.
• Experience preparing quotations and processing customer orders.
• A proactive approach to following up opportunities and developing customer accounts.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A reliable, hands-on and team-focused approach.
• Experience within plumbing and heating would be a particular advantage, although candidates from other merchant or trade sales backgrounds with strong product knowledge and customer service skills are also encouraged to apply.
