Job summary

JDP is seeking a Trade Counter Sales Person for our Fareham branch. You will be at the heart of the branch, serving customers face-to-face, answering enquiries, and driving sales growth. You’ll build lasting relationships with trade and retail customers while helping to keep the branch running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in a builders' merchant, plumbing merchant, or trade counter environment is preferred.
• Able to build long-term relationships with customers and help grow the branch.
• Confident in speaking with tradespeople and contractors in person and by phone.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers at the counter with knowledgeable advice and excellent service.
• Build relationships with existing customers and develop new business opportunities.
• Handle customer enquiries by phone, email, and in person; process quotes and orders accurately.
• Identify opportunities to upsell and promote products and branch initiatives.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the branch and work with colleagues to ensure outstanding service.

Are you currently working in a builders' merchant, plumbing merchant, electrical wholesaler, civils supplier or trade counter environment?

Do you enjoy helping trade customers find the right solution, building long-term relationships, and being part of a small team where your contribution genuinely makes a difference?

We're looking for an experienced Trade Counter Sales Person to join our successful Fareham branch.

This is not a role where you'll be hidden behind a desk. You'll be at the heart of the branch, serving customers face-to-face, handling enquiries, driving sales growth and helping to keep the branch running smoothly. If you take pride in giving great advice and exceptional service, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As one of the key people in our branch, you'll be:

• Serving trade and retail customers at the counter, providing knowledgeable advice and excellent service.
• Building strong relationships with existing customers and developing new business opportunities.
• Handling customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.
• Processing quotes and orders accurately and efficiently.
• Identifying opportunities to upsell and promote products and branch initiatives.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure customers receive outstanding service every time they visit.

You'll be someone who:

• Enjoys dealing with customers and solving problems.
• Has confidence speaking with tradespeople and contractors in branch and on the phone.
• Understands the importance of product knowledge and customer relationships.
• Is commercially minded and enjoys identifying sales opportunities.
• Takes ownership and works well in a small team.
• Isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed.
