Job summary

JDP in Fareham is seeking a Trade Counter Sales Person to join our busy branch. You'll greet customers, advise on the right solutions, and drive sales growth while keeping the branch running smoothly.

You’ll work face-to-face with tradespeople and retail customers, handle enquiries by phone and email, and build lasting relationships. Full product training is provided, and you’ll be part of a supportive, growing team.

Qualifications

• Experience in builders' merchants, plumbing merchants, electrical wholesalers or civils supplier environments preferred.
• Ability to build strong customer relationships and identify sales opportunities.
• Confident communication with tradespeople and contractors in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers at the counter with knowledgeable advice and excellent service.
• Build relationships with existing customers and develop new business opportunities.

Are you currently working in a builders' merchant, plumbing merchant, electrical wholesaler, civils supplier or trade counter environment?

Do you enjoy helping trade customers find the right solution, building long-term relationships, and being part of a small team where your contribution genuinely makes a difference?

We're looking for an experienced Trade Counter Sales Person to join our successful Fareham branch.

This is not a role where you'll be hidden behind a desk. You'll be at the heart of the branch, serving customers face-to-face, handling enquiries, driving sales growth and helping to keep the branch running smoothly. If you take pride in giving great advice and exceptional service, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As one of the key people in our branch, you'll be:

• Serving trade and retail customers at the counter, providing knowledgeable advice and excellent service.
• Building strong relationships with existing customers and developing new business opportunities.
• Handling customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.
• Processing quotes and orders accurately and efficiently.
• Identifying opportunities to upsell and promote products and branch initiatives.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure customers receive outstanding service every time they visit.

You’ll be someone who:

• Enjoys dealing with customers and solving problems.
• Has confidence speaking with tradespeople and contractors in branch and on the phone.
• Understands the importance of product knowledge and customer relationships.
• Is commercially minded and enjoys identifying sales opportunities.
• Takes ownership and works well in a small team.
• Isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed.
