Job summary

Longacres Garden Centre in Bagshot is seeking a Toys Department Manager who will lead our Toys team, manage rotas, holidays and covering absences while delivering an outstanding customer experience.

You will work with the buyer on seasonal changes and product planning, supervise staff, merchandise to a high standard, and drive sales with fresh ideas. The role offers full-time hours Monday to Friday with a weekday rota off.

• Experience working in a Garden Centre environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Toys team – rotas, holidays and absence cover to keep the department staffed.
• Ensure the department delivers an excellent customer experience.
• Work with the buyer on seasonal changes and product planning.
• Oversee staff within the department and provide guidance as needed.
• Merchandise products on the sales floor to a high standard with clear pricing and safe displays.
• Serve customers and handle enquiries.
• Update the team with promotions, new lines, deliveries and shop floor changes.
• Implement new ideas to promote products and increase sales.
• Perform probation reviews, return-to-work interviews and performance conversations.

Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday with a rota’d day off in the week

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage our Toys team – this will include the administration of rotas, holidays, and absence cover to ensure the department is sufficiently manned at all times
• Ensure the department delivers an excellent customer experience
• Work with the buyer to assist with seasonal changes and product planning
• Oversee staff within the department and provide guidance as needed.
• Merchandise products on the sales floor to a high standard, ensuring that all the products are clearly and correctly priced and displayed safely
• Serving customers and dealing with enquiries
• Update the team with information such as promotions, new lines, deliveries, and shop floor changes
• Implement new ideas to promote products and increase sales
• Perform probation reviews, return to work interviews, and performance conversations
