Job summary

Longacres Garden Centre in Bagshot is recruiting a Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly team. This is a hands-on role covering repairs, grounds, displays and general improvements across the site, with a varied daily workload.

You will help ensure safety, cleanliness and functionality of the garden centre, fixtures and tools, with opportunities for training and career development within a well-established family-run business.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Maintenance/DIY.
• Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Excellent organisation and housekeeping skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise.

Responsibilities

• Support in the design, construction and delivery of retail store fixtures, seasonal displays and ad hoc projects.
• General housekeeping of the garden centre (i.e., litter picking, cutting the grass).
• Help with general maintenance issues around site.
• Build, repair and ensure safe use of store slat wall fixtures.
• Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on buildings, fixtures, and garden structures.
• Conduct regular checks on gardening tools and equipment, arranging repairs or servicing when necessary.

Are you a practical, hands-on person who enjoys fixing, building and improving things?

We are currently recruiting at our Bagshot store for a Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking team. This is a varied and hands-on role, where no two days are likely to be the same. You will play an important part in keeping our garden centre, grounds and facilities safe, clean and well maintained, while also supporting with repairs, retail displays, seasonal projects and general improvements across the site. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being practical and hands-on, and is happy to get stuck into a wide range of tasks to help keep our store looking its best.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Support in the design, construction and delivery of retail store fixtures, seasonal displays and ad hoc projects.

Able and willing to work across multiple sites from time to time
