Job summary

A leading university in the UK is seeking a Timetabling Officer to manage the creation and maintenance of personalized student timetables. This full-time fixed-term role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as experience in administration within a higher education context. You will forecast timetabling needs, negotiate scheduling conflicts, and ensure timely delivery of timetables to support student success. A supportive working environment allows for agile working arrangements, including partial remote work.

Role Overview

Timetabling Officers are responsible for a full range of complex administrative and support activity including preparing, organising, creating and maintaining accurate and timely personalised student timetables. In your role you will be responsible for planning work activity for the year ahead; working with timetabling leads to forecast and in some cases predict, timetabling needs; negotiate where conflict arises throughout the scheduling process; and resolve issues as they arise to ensure the timely ensuring every student receives a timetable that supports their success.

Key Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to form confident professional relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • The ability to competently use, manipulate and maintain complex databases and online systems
  • Demonstrable work experience in administration, ideally within a Higher Education institution
  • Experience of producing electronic student timetables or use of a complex database
Term and Working Arrangement

This is a full‑time (37 hours/week) fixed‑term post covering a period of maternity leave until January 2027. The post will be based at the Moulsecoomb campus; the university also offers a more agile working environment where staff can work partly from the University and optionally partly from home (provided it is practical for them to do so). We also welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.
