Job summary

Family Care is seeking a dedicated Residential Childcare Worker to join our team in Oldham. You will deliver daily care, provide emotional support, and work within a therapeutic model to help children and young people with learning disabilities grow and thrive.

The role requires empathy, resilience, and strong teamwork, with sleep-in and weekend shifts as part of a professional care team. Full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with learning disabilities.
• Empathetic, patient, and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm and proactive approach to challenges.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with learning disabilities in their everyday routines.
• Promote independence and encourage participation in household and community activities.
• Help manage personal care needs where required, with dignity and respect.
• Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support.
• Follow individual care plans and contribute to their development.
• Work effectively as part of a consistent and professional care team, including undertaking sleep-in, shift/rota work (including weekends)
• Maintain detailed and accurate records.

Education

NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent
