Job summary

Family Care is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker in Wythenshawe to support young people with learning disabilities within a therapeutic residential model. You will work with our in-house practitioners to deliver consistent, personalised care in a safe, nurturing environment.

The role includes sleep-in duties, weekend shifts, and a focus on building independent living skills with dignity and respect. Training and progression opportunities are provided.

About the role

As a Residential Childcare Worker you'll play a vital role in delivering daily care, emotional support, and meaningful interactions that help each young person grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. Working within the home's Therapeutic Model, you'll collaborate closely with our in-house therapeutic practitioners to ensure every young person receives the consistent, personalised support they need to make lasting, positive changes in their lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support children and young people with a range of learning disabilities in their everyday routines
  • Promote independence and encourage participation in household and community activities
  • Help manage personal care needs where required, with dignity and respect
  • Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support
  • Follow individual care plans and contribute to their development
  • Work effectively as part of a consistent and professional care team, including undertaking sleep-in, shift/rota work (including weekends)
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records
What we're looking for
  • Experience working with children, young people or adults with learning disabilities
  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
  • Empathetic, patient, and positive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm and proactive approach to challenges
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential)
