Job summary

Family care group in Oldham is seeking a dedicated Residential Childcare Worker to join our team and support children with learning disabilities in a therapeutic home environment. You will deliver daily care, emotional support and positive interactions within our Therapeutic Model, working closely with in-house practitioners to help each young person progress and thrive.

All offers are subject to safeguarding checks, including Enhanced DBS and references; a full UK driving licence is preferred,

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with learning disabilities.
• NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
• Empathetic, patient, and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm and proactive approach to challenges.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with a range of learning disabilities in their everyday routines.
• Promote independence and encourage participation in household and community activities.
• Help manage personal care needs where required, with dignity and respect.
• Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support.
• Follow individual care plans and contribute to their development.
• Work effectively as part of a consistent and professional care team, including undertaking sleep-in, shift/rota work (including weekends).
• Maintain detailed and accurate records.
