Job summary

Additional Resources is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker to join our children's residential care team, providing therapeutic support to young people with emotional and behavioural needs. You will help create a safe, nurturing home where young people can build confidence, independence and achieve positive outcomes, with full-time hours including sleep-ins and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
• Compassionate, patient and resilient personality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and undertake safeguarding training.
• Flexibility to work a residential shift rota, including weekends and sleep-ins.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and individual needs are prioritised.
• Develop positive and trusting relationships, providing emotional support and acting as a consistent, reliable role model.
• Assist young people who may have experienced trauma, emotional difficulties or challenging circumstances.
• Encourage independence, confidence, healthy routines and positive decision-making through everyday activities.
• Support educational development, recreational activities, community involvement and personal interests.
• Contribute to individual care plans, risk assessments, daily reports and other required documentation.
• Promote safeguarding, positive behaviour and a supportive environment in line with Ofsted standards.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, families and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming home, involving young people in everyday responsibilities where appropriate.
