Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee education, training and workforce development across the Theatre Departments at Southport and Ormskirk sites. The post combines 50% clinical practice with 50% education leadership to keep training aligned with safe perioperative care.

You will support student placements, lead on device training, promote evidence-based practice and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC registration is required.
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Postgraduate mentorship qualification or equivalent experience is required.
• Postgraduate certificate in leadership is required.
• North West Simulation Education Network Educational qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership by maintaining a 50% clinical role within theatre services.
• Lead and coordinate education, training and workforce development across Southport and Ormskirk theatres.
• Support student placements and practice learning environments.
• Lead on medical device training and competency assurance.
• Promote evidence-based practice, research and quality improvement.
• Support workforce planning, succession planning and staff retention initiatives.
• Contribute to policy development and clinical governance activities.
• Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support achievement of operational, quality, workforce and financial objectives.
• Act as a professional role model and advocate for high standards of perioperative care and education.
