Job summary

The Royal Shakespeare Company in Brighton seeks a Food and Beverage Assistant to provide friendly, high-quality service across outlets including the Rooftop Restaurant, cafés and bars. You will deliver great hospitality during performances and events, with flexible, variable hours to support busy periods.

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Management team, you’ll help maintain hygiene standards, assist with deliveries, and collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.

Qualifications

• Deliver friendly, welcoming and efficient service to guests.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across front of house, kitchen and events teams.
• Understand basic food hygiene and safety regulations (training provided).
• Are reliable and take responsibility for assigned areas and tasks.
• Have a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Are adaptable and respond positively to changing menus, service styles and event requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and welcoming customers and taking responsibility for a section of the restaurant, café or bar.
• Serving food and drinks across all outlets.
• Ensuring areas are presented to a high standard for each service.
• Receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring safe handling and storage.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment – following food hygiene and health and safety procedures.
• Working collaboratively with the kitchen and other teams to ensure smooth service.
• Supporting with the delivery of functions and events.
