Job summary

Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood is seeking a dedicated Theatre Assistant to join the busy Operating Theatre team. This permanent, full-time role offers 37.5 hours weekly and a clear path to long-term development within Spire Healthcare.

You will support nurses and consultants during procedures, prepare equipment, maintain sterility and assist with patient comfort in a fast-paced environment. Prior theatre exposure is desirable.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
  • Care Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous theatre experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support Nurses and Consultants during surgical procedures.
  • Assist Scrub Nurses within operating theatres.
  • Support patients within the anaesthetic room.
  • Safely transport patients to and from theatre and wards.
  • Open sterile packs and prepare equipment for procedures.
  • Prepare, check and handle surgical instruments.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention.
  • Contribute to a safe, efficient theatre environment.
  • Provide reassurance and support to patients throughout their theatre experience.

Spire Hartswood Hospital is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Theatre Assistant to join our busy Operating Theatre team.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a key member of the theatre team, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include

Supporting Nurses and Consultants during surgical procedures.

  • Assisting Scrub Nurses within operating theatres.
  • Supporting patients within the anaesthetic room.
  • Safely transporting patients to and from theatre and wards.
  • Opening sterile packs and preparing equipment for procedures.
  • Preparing, checking and handling surgical instruments.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control.
  • Contributing to a safe, efficient and high-quality theatre environment.
  • Providing reassurance and support to patients throughout their theatre experience.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, Care Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous theatre experience (desirable)
