Job summary

Peterborough Regional College is seeking a Student Mentor to join on a fixed-term basis until July 2027. The role focuses on pastoral support, helping students overcome barriers and progress toward goals, with responsibility for a caseload and delivery of Personal Development sessions.

You will work closely with curriculum teams and Student Services to promote attendance, retention and progression, contributing to a positive student experience within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people in a support or mentoring role.
• Experience delivering group sessions.
• Experience of working within an educational environment.
• Ability to identify students' needs and develop appropriate responses.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Personal Development sessions.
• Provide pastoral support to a designated caseload of students.
• Monitor and track student attendance and punctuality, identifying patterns and implementing interventions.
• Work with curriculum teams and Student Services to support retention and achievement.
• Provide additional support to vulnerable student groups as required.
• Identify and refer safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Collaborate with curriculum managers, administrators, support teams and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and student support.
• Contribute to a positive student experience and team ethos.
