Job summary

Inspire Education Group in Peterborough is seeking a dedicated Student Mentor on a fixed-term basis until July 2027 to support learners, collaborate with curriculum teams and Student Services, promote engagement, attendance, retention and progression.

You will manage a caseload, provide front-line pastoral support, run weekly Personal Development sessions, and help students overcome barriers to learning while contributing to a positive learner experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Personal Development sessions.
• Provide pastoral support to a designated caseload of students.
• Monitor and track student attendance and punctuality, identifying patterns and putting appropriate interventions in place.
• Work closely with curriculum teams and Student Services to support student retention and achievement.
• Provide additional support to vulnerable groups of students where required.
• Identify and appropriately refer safeguarding concerns.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum managers, administrators, support teams and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and student support.
• Contribute to the development of a positive student experience and a strong team ethos.

Salary - £28,074 per annum (pro rata where applicable)

Hours - 37 hours per week, term time only

Contract - Fixed Term until July 2027

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Student Mentor to join our team on a fixed-term basis until July 2027.

The Student Mentor will play an important role in supporting our students to succeed, working closely with curriculum teams, Student Services, Careers and other colleagues to promote positive engagement, attendance, retention and progression.

You will have responsibility for a caseload of students and will provide front-line pastoral support, helping students overcome barriers to their learning and make positive progress towards their goals.

A key part of the role will be planning and delivering weekly Personal Development sessions, ensuring these are engaging, relevant and appropriate to the needs of the students you support.

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and can build positive, professional relationships with students.

You will ideally have experience of working with young people in a support, mentoring, education or related role, together with experience of delivering group sessions and providing advice and guidance.

You will need to demonstrate:

• Experience of working with young people in a support or related role.
