Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd is seeking a General Assistant for a Colchester site. The role is term-time only (36 weeks) with a 15-hour week (Mon-Wed, 9am-2pm) and occasional overtime opportunities.

You’ll work in a fast-paced catering environment, supporting service, food prep, and hygiene standards while providing excellent customer service. The role includes potential evenings/weekends for events and a range of staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a fast-paced catering environment.
• Food hygiene knowledge preferred.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy items and assist with moving supplies.
• Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends for functions or events.

Responsibilities

• To support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, cleaning.
• Prepare all service areas for the day’s business relating to that meal service.
• Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment for functions.
• Prepare basic food for sale/service following hygiene and safety practices and to the required standard.
• Restock and replenish stocks and consumables during service, anticipating customer needs.
• Empty, remove and store rubbish and recycling in the correct place.
• Be prepared to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends for school functions/events.
• Ensure food standards are adhered to and wastage is controlled.
• Follow all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen controls.
