Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd. is seeking a General Assistant for Edinburgh. This part-time, permanent role offers flexible hours (10–30 hours per week) with a salary of £12.71 per hour.

The role involves assisting the catering team, serving customers, preparing service areas, and maintaining high hygiene standards across a busy school site. Ideal candidates have experience in fast-paced catering, good English communication, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced catering environments.
• Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.
• Ability to communicate in verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
• Prepare service areas for daily meal service.
• Set up, serve, clear, clean and store away food, beverages or equipment for functions.
• Prepare basic food following hygiene and safety standards.
• Restock and replenish stocks during service to meet customer needs.
• Manage rubbish/recycling in correct areas.
• Occasionally work evenings and weekends for functions or events.
• Adhere to food standards and minimize wastage.
• Follow Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen controls.
