Job summary

Hoop Recruitment LTD is recruiting a School Caretaker / Premises Assistant in Caerphilly. The role is full-time, term-time, with a split shift of morning opening and afternoon/evening closing. Salary is £92.56 per day with weekly pay.

You will open the school, secure the site, perform routine maintenance and support health and safety across the premises. Experience in caretaking or facilities maintenance is preferred; good DIY, security awareness, and the ability to work independently are

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a caretaker roles such as premises, facilities or maintenance.
• Good DIY and practical repair skills.
• Experience with minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Solid understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Strong awareness of site security and access control.
• Ability to work independently using initiative.
• Good organisational and time-management abilities.
• Friendly, approachable manner with staff, pupils and visitors.
• Reliable and punctual, with flexible availability for split shifts.

Responsibilities

• Open and unlock the school premises each morning.
• Secure and lock the school at the end of the day.
• Carry out daily security and safety checks.
• Ensure premises are safe and well maintained.
• Carry out general building and property maintenance.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Report significant maintenance or health and safety issues.
• Set up and move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Assist with upkeep and presentation of the site.
• Monitor heating, lighting and alarms; support health and safety.
• Assist with grounds maintenance when required.
• Maintain a secure and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
