Keys Education is seeking an experienced Caretaker in Caerphilly, South Wales, to support a wide range of maintenance tasks and help provide a safe learning environment for pupils. The role involves overseeing alarms, lighting, grounds work, and supervision of contractors, with a focus on proactive service delivery.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) with a permanent contract and a salary of £27,000–£30,000. DBS checks are required as part of safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Experienced multi-skilled maintenance operative – essential.
• Previous experience in a similar role – desirable.
• Able to work effectively without direct supervision – essential.
• Organised, pragmatic and solutions-focused – essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and record checks on fire alarm systems and emergency lighting.
• Carry out maintenance tasks and repairs as directed by the Head Teacher.
• Create and manage a rolling decoration programme during school holidays.
• Manage contractors on site and monitor safety/quality of work.
• General grounds maintenance including grass cutting and hedge trimming.
• Ensure safe pedestrian access and winter gritting where needed.
