Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council seeks a reliable Caretaker to join our school premises team. The successful candidate will help ensure the site is safe, secure, clean and well-maintained at all times, supporting daily operations and carrying out basic maintenance tasks.

The role is part-time (22.5 hours per week) under two contracts and requires an Enhanced DBS. Duties include opening and closing the site, health and safety compliance, heating and lighting management, and liaising with

Qualifications

• Weeks strong practical skills and basic repairs knowledge with a solid health & safety understanding.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with good communication and organisation.
• Enhanced DBS check is a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school site and securing buildings and grounds.
• Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks.
• Monitoring and maintaining cleanliness of the premises.
• Ensuring health and safety standards are consistently met.
• Managing heating, lighting and general facilities systems.
• Conducting regular safety checks and reporting any issues.
• Assisting with room setups for events and activities.
• Liaising with contractors and external service providers when required.
