Job summary

Ponthir Church in Wales Primary School is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join our warm, welcoming community. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and well‑managed site for pupils, staff and visitors, supporting day‑to‑day operations and ensuring buildings and grounds are kept in good repair.

You will open and secure premises daily, carry out routine maintenance and basic DIY, monitor heating and lighting, manage waste, assist with deliveries and events, and report safety issues promptly.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises daily.
• Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and general DIY tasks.
• Ensuring the school is clean, tidy and safe at all times.
• Managing waste disposal and recycling.
• Monitoring heating, lighting and security systems.
• Supporting with deliveries, setting up rooms and school events.
• Checking the site for health and safety risks and reporting issues promptly.
