Job summary

The University of Bristol Catering department is offering a rare Chef opportunity on a term-time contract (34 weeks per year, 35 hours per week) with paid overtime. The role focuses on preparing nutritious meals and supporting menu planning under the Head Chef, ensuring high hygiene standards and staff training within a vibrant campus environment.

Ideal candidates will have at least an NVQ Level 2 equivalent, experience across varied catering settings, and a passion for developing quality,

Qualifications

• Demonstrated culinary ability and high standards of food preparation.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene best practices.
• Experience planning menus for varied meals and events.
• Ability to train and induct staff, including temporary workers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare varied nutritious meals to a high standard as directed by Head Chef and Manager.
• Assist Head Chef in planning menus for meals, functions and events.
• Maintain hygiene and safety by monitoring cleaning, temperatures and procedures.
• Assist in staff training and induction of new and temporary staff.
• Assist with procurement orders and ensuring accurate deliveries and storage.
