Job summary

Bournville Village Trust is seeking two Tenant Empowerment Coordinators in Stirchley to deliver person-centred support for tenants at risk of tenancy breakdown. You will work to empower tenants to access the right help and coordinate with agencies to sustain tenancies and improve wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Identify barriers to sustaining tenancy (financial hardship, health issues, social isolation)
  • Provide practical guidance and signposting to stabilise and improve tenants' situations
  • Build relationships with voluntary, community and statutory organisations
  • Coordinate multi-agency support for tenants as a consistent point of contact
  • Advocate for tenants to ensure needs are heard by partners
  • Promote early intervention to reduce tenancy breakdown and escalation
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor outcomes and service improvements
  • Collaborate with colleagues, external agencies and services to support tenants

Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday

We are seeking two dedicated Tenant Empowerment Coordinators to provide person-centred support to tenants who may be experiencing challenges that place their tenancy at risk or require practical interventions which may improve their personal circumstances.

The Role

This role is focused on early intervention, practical support, and strong partnership working (both internal and external partnerships). You will work closely with tenants to understand their circumstances, empower them to access the right support, and coordinate with statutory agencies and other support organisations to empower tenants to sustain their tenancy and improve their overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with tenants to identify barriers to sustaining their tenancy, such as financial hardship, health issues, or social isolation
  • Provide practical advice, guidance, and signposting to help tenants stabilise and improve their situation
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with voluntary, community, and faith sector organisations, as well as statutory agencies (e.g. local authorities, health services, welfare providers)
  • Coordinate multi-agency support for tenants, acting as a consistent point of contact where appropriate
  • Advocate on behalf of tenants to ensure their needs and voices are heard by partner organisations
  • Promote early intervention and prevention approaches to reduce tenancy breakdown and escalation
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring outcomes and service improvements
  • Working collaboratively with BVT colleagues, external agencies and services to support tenants to sustain their tenancies
Candidate Profile

We are seeking an empathetic, solution-focused, and confident candidates who have experience of working with people facing complex life challenges. We aren’t only seeking candidates with experience in social housing and encourage applicants from all backgrounds (including but not limited to mental health, advocacy and care and support services). Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate that they understand the importance of partnership working and have experience of working with a diverse range of individuals to improve access to services that improve their circumstances.

You will have:

  • Strong partnership and multi‑agency working skills
  • The ability to build trust and engage tenants in a respectful, strengths‑based way
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, and trauma‑informed practice
  • Experience in person centred support services that includes working knowledge of safeguarding interventions.
  • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector support services, including welfare, health, and social care
