Cheadle Primary School is seeking a passionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to support high-quality learning experiences for pupils in KS1. This fixed-term role offers 26.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a start date asap and end date 16 July 2027, in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Funding attached to individual pupil, term-time plus inset days, and a pro-rata FTE salary of £25,989. Start date asap.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children's learning in an educational setting.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent).
  • Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Understanding of curriculum matters and ability to contribute to curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured support under teachers' work programmes.
  • Support development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans.
  • Maintain classroom discipline per school policies.
  • Support pupils to achieve learning goals.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team and support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for our pupils.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide structured support in accordance with specific work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers.
  • Support the teacher in the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behaviour management strategies.
  • Provide support to pupils to achieve learning goals.
  • Supervise pupils for a particular curriculum activity under the supervision and guidance of a qualified teacher.
  • Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities.
  • Assist the teacher in monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
  • Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, etc.
  • Provide general admin support, for classroom activities e.g. produce worksheets for agreed activities etc.
About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least a year of experience working to support children’s learning in a relevant educational setting, experience of speech and language interventions desirable as well as an understanding of RWI phonics.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent).
  • Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice.
  • An understanding of curriculum matters and to be able to contribute effectively to curriculum development, planning, evaluation and implementation.
  • In depth understanding of areas of learning, e.g. English, maths, science, SEND or Early Years.
  • Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes.
  • Ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving.
  • Effective use of ICT to support learning.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to a wide range of people.
  • Work constructively as part of a team whilst being able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
