Job summary

Howden is seeking a Programme Manager / Delivery Lead in London, hybrid. You will lead strategic technology programmes, govern delivery, manage budgets, and work with CTO, Product, Architecture and PMO teams to deliver with excellence.

The role demands senior leadership, governance discipline and strong stakeholder engagement within a fast-growing insurance tech environment. You will partner with Heads of Delivery & Change and Tech leadership to drive SDLC adherence, risk management and value

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading complex technology programmes and portfolios.
• Proven leadership of Project Managers, Scrum Masters or delivery teams.
• Strong programme, project and agile delivery management expertise.
• Experience in regulated and governance-driven environments.
• Finance management and budget control experience.
• Stakeholder engagement with Executive/C-suite levels.
• Understanding of SDLC, governance and delivery controls.
• Experience preparing business cases and executive materials.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills.
• AI basics to strong skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of strategic technology programmes across Specialty Technology.
• Provide oversight across project and agile delivery activities.
• Drive delivery predictability, quality and governance compliance.
• Identify and mitigate programme risks, issues and dependencies.
• Establish governance structures and decision forums for programmes.
• Line manage Project Managers and Scrum Masters; recruit and develop teams.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC policies and delivery standards.
• Produce governance materials, portfolio reporting and executive updates.
• Champion continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
• Engage with stakeholders including C-suite; manage communications.
